Get a Job as a Riding Instructor

So you want a job working with horses, why not consider becoming a horse riding instructor. Being a horse riding instructor is one of the most fulfilling jobs within the equine industry. Unfortunately getting this particular job is not easy. Your first option would be to convince a stable owner to hire you as a horse riding instructor or you would need to become an independent contractor. There is generally two ways in which a horse instructor will be paid, either on an hourly rate or per student.

So how do you get the job of a horse riding instructor? The best way to get started is by getting the word out, talking to local stables and simply putting an ad in your local paper. Also look at local horse magazines and horse shops around the areas you would be happy to work and place notices around. If you are happy to move states or areas in order to get the horse job you want, then get on to the internet and see what horse riding instructor jobs are available. Another option is to take on the role of a working student to gain valuable experience in working with horses. Getting your foot in the door is a great way in learning about the equine industry and getting valuable contacts that can help you move forward in your horse career.
